ceSupport and Antivirus Protection
Many applications that connect to networks, especially outside networks, are inadvertently reported as viruses by a variety of antivirus or other protection software.

The ceSupport application connects to a Computer Ease network and only at your request; Computer Ease cannot initiate a connection, we can only receive a call. Further, please be assured that the ceSupport software does not contain any viruses. If your protection software reports ceSupport as containing a virus, this report is a "false positive" and can be ignored.

In the event your protection software prevents ceSupport from operating properly, and if your software and workstation security allows for it, ceSupport may be added as an "exception" to the antivirus scanning. Doing so depends entirely on the product you are using; please see your product's Help system for additional information.

As an example of adding an exception to security software, below are the steps to perform if you are using the ESET NOD32 Antivirus
© product. The steps to perform if you are using other security software will necessarily be different.

  1. Open the ESET NOD32 Antivirus© program. You may do this by navigating Windows© Programs or clicking the ESET NOD32 Antivirus© icon  in the system tray. This will display the ESET NOD32 Antivirus© application.

  2. Press F5 then expand the Antivirus and Antispyware settings items to arrive at the Exclusions option.

  3. Click the Add... button and navigate to where you saved ceSupport.exe. Add ceSupport.exe as an exclusion. For example, if you had saved ceSupport.exe to your desktop, the exclusion may appear as

  4. Click OK to save the exclusion and ceSupport.exe will now run properly.
